About Department

  • S.N. Patel Institute of Technology & Research Centre established in 2008 with 240 intake. Mechanical Engineering was one of the stream since inception with 60 intake. In 2010, intake increased to 120. The intake of the department revised to 60 from academic year 2022-23. Post Graduation course in Production Engineering with 24 intake was sanctioned in 2014. 
  • The department has an excellent industrial interaction and organized Industrial Visits based on various subject fields. Department has also organized STTP, FDP, Workshops, Seminar and Expert Lectures to improve extra skills and knowledge of students as well as Faculties.
  • Department consist of all well equipped laboratory with sophisticated instruments.

Message from Head of Department

Head of Department Mechanical engineering is versatile and evergreen branch of engineering. Mechanical engineer can work in various specialized area like automotive system, aerospace engineering, design engineering, dynamic system and control, power plant engineering, etc. and most importantly in software field also. Department has well qualified and experienced faculties. Department has well developed laboratories. Department follows the student centric teaching-learning approach and imparts quality engineering education through classrooms and Laboratory teaching. Department has procured Solid works software with perpetual license to make the students experts in software knowledge to take competitive advantage for better job opportunities. Expert lectures and industry visits are arranged regularly for the students. Moreover, Mechanical Engineering Department regularly arranges seminars / workshops on current trends related to various domains of Mechanical Engineering by inviting external specialized speakers.

Programme Specific Objectives (PSOs)

  1. Graduates would be able to understand and analyze mechanical systems in a discipline of thermal, fluid, energy design and production engineering.
  2. Graduates would be able to analyze and solve complex industrial as well as research problem through an engineering concepts and various graphical, computational, experimental and mathematical tools.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and mechanical engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyses complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the mechanical engineering practice.
